Our mission

Empowering Educators for Sustainable Development

At Digital ESD, we believe in the power of education to drive sustainability. Our mission is to equip educators with the tools and confidence to integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into their classrooms, ensuring students can critically engage with global challenges and become active change-makers. Therefore, we developed a learning platform that offers educators teaching and learning material to provide primary school children with the knowledge they need to reflect on and shape their thoughts and actions in the context of sustainable development.

Objectives and Results

Through targeted measures and innovative approaches, we want to ensure that teachers and students benefit equally from our project. Here are the main objectives and outcomes of our project:

Digital Learning Platform

Specially tailored to the needs of primary education in the partner countries Cyprus, Germany, Hungary and Norway.

19 Learning Worlds

Interactive modules covering the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Wedding Cake Model, and SDG dilemmas.

Teaching and learning materials

Offering structured guidance, lesson plans, and ready-to-use activities for educators.

Practical & Ready-to-Use Content

By target group involvement ensuring materials are classroom-friendly and immediately applicable.

Regular online training courses

To educate teachers about ESD in elementary school and give them the confidence to use the materials.

Freely available framework

Supporting the integration of ESD into curricula beyond our partner countries.

It ensures that the learning content is practical, appropriate for the target group and immediately applicable.

Support framework

Our project provides a comprehensive framework that enables target groups outside our immediate project sphere to integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into their curricula. This framework offers support in carrying out the process of curriculum analysis and subsequently developing customized learning and teaching materials tailored to national needs and circumstances. With this resource, we aim to empower teachers and educational institutions worldwide to actively shape a sustainable future.
